Studio Policies
Attendance: Regular attendance and punctuality is expected. If your child will be absent, please call and notify the office. Make-up lessions are available for unavoidable absences (illnesses, death in the family, etc.) and when cancellations are made by the studio.
Class Scheduling: Students should arrive and be ready for class a few minutes prior to their scheduled class time. Please try to pick up your child no more than 10 minutes after their class has ended.
Inclement Weather Closings: In case of extreme weather conditions, the studio may cancel classes. Please call the studio, 703-594-3223, for a voice mail recording about class cancellations. You may select on Inclement Weather to see current information.
Class Attire
For your convenience, you can purchase your basic dancewear needs at PWDA. We now offer Illinois Theatrical dancewear (ballet, tap, jazz shoes), tote bags, and other accessories. Irish Ghillies and other items can be ordered upon request.
The studio requests that all students wear a black leotard and pink tights for ballet. Black leotards, and tights, as well as dance shorts will be acceptable for jazz and tap. Students may wear other solid colors in addition to the required studio uniform. Baggy shirts and pants, and midriff tops are not allowed. No cut-off shorts or denim. Irish dance and Hip Hop attire are the same as tap/Jazz.
Ballet shoes- Pink, full sole for younger students; Pink, split sole for older students. New Pointe candidates: Your instructor will advise you on your shoe purchase. Tap shoe- Black tyette or Mary Jane strap for young children; Black, jazz tap shoes for 8 years and up; Jazz shoes- black, split sole; Dance/Pom- good supportive athletic shoes with thick socks; Irish dance classes: Irish ghillies. (Ballet, jazz shoes are acceptable for Irish.) Hard shoes (tap shoes are acceptable).
